Design and Implementation of Main Vacuum Control System of Domestic Superconducting Proton Cyclotron in Hefei

  • The superconducting proton medical cyclotron is a high-end radiation therapy device independently developed in China. As a core subsystem, the vacuum system plays a critical role in ensuring the efficiency and stability of the particle acceleration process. To support the long-term and stable operation of the accelerator, this study focuses on the design and implementation of its vacuum control system. The system employs Siemens programmable logic controllers(PLC) as its hardware foundation and adopts the Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System(EPICS) as the software platform. A reliable control logic and user-friendly interface have been developed to meet the operational requirements. The work includes the design of the control system architecture, operational logic, user interface, and safety interlock mechanisms. Results from system deployment and operation demonstrate that the proposed control system can stably maintain a high-vacuum environment, exhibiting excellent control performance and operational reliability. The system fully meets the operational demands of the superconducting proton cyclotron in medical applications.
