依托惠州大科学装置高精度核物理实验研究设想

Research Proposals for High-Precision Nuclear Physics Experiments Based on the Huizhou Large Scientific Facilities

  • 摘要: 基于中国科学院近代物理研究所正在建设的HIAF和CiADS及正在规划的“中国先进核物理研究装置”(CNUF),我们召集国内外相关领域专家提出利用CNUF提供的世界上首屈一指的研究条件,聚焦于调研四大类可能的高精度物理实验:η介子的稀有衰变寻找超越标准模型新物理;缪子物理;中微子物理和冷中子物理等。我们的目标是,在大中小型项目之间建立更好的平衡,以开辟新的科学机会,最大限度地发挥惠州大科学装置的作用,把在科学上的国际引领地位作为规划制定的核心考虑,为近代物理研究所制定既符合自身发展特点、又要抢占科技制高点的战略规划和目标定位提供参考和依据。我们期望能够对上述这些高精度物理领域进行深入研究,争取作出重大发现,推动我国核物理领域取得新的发展,使惠州成为世界上先进的核物理研究中心之一。

     

    Abstract: Based on the ongoing construction of HIAF and CiADS at the Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as the planned “China Nuclear Physics User Facility” (CNUF), we have brought together experts from relevant fields both domestically and internationally to explore how to leverage the world-class research infrastructure that CNUF will provide. The focus of our effort is a strategic survey of four major categories of potential high-precision experiments: rare decays of the η meson in the search for physics beyond the Standard Model, muon physics, neutrino physics, and cold neutron physics. Our objective is to establish a better balance among large-, medium-, and small-scale projects in order to open new scientific avenues, maximize the potential of the Huizhou-based large-scale scientific infrastructure, and place international scientific leadership at the core of our planning. This initiative aims to inform strategic planning and goal setting at the Institute of Modern Physics by aligning with its unique development characteristics while also targeting the technological frontier. Through in-depth investigation of these high-precision experimental areas, we aspire to achieve major scientific breakthroughs, foster new advances in China’s nuclear physics research, and ultimately establish Huizhou as one of the world’s leading centers for advanced nuclear physics.
